OHAAT was formed to provide resources to those who rescue horses and to educate the public about responsible equine ownership as well as recognizing and identifying signs of abuse and neglect.
OHAAT's sole purpose is to promote the welfare of our equine friends. From our grant assistance programs and our educational outreach, to our petitions and cross country networking of equines in need, we strive to make an impact in every way we can. We are always brainstorming and reviewing new ways to serve and support the rescue and welfare community.
When you donate to One Horse at a Time, Inc. you can rest assured that we will do the research for you. Every application that we receive is thoroughly reviewed and the applicants references are checked. We require contact information for the vet, the farrier and any other service provider that we feel can give us insight into the the individual situation. Research is done to look for any prior animal related charges or convictions although this information is not always readily available to us. We make every attempt to do our due diligence to uncover all facts that would aid in the decision making process. Once we have a clear picture of the situation, the application is presented to the board for discussion and vote. Upon approval the applicant is notified and OHAAT only supplies funds to the service provider. We never reimburse for funds already spent or give money directly to the applicant. We feel this helps to ensure the money goes to its intended purpose.
